Carnegie Science Center RiverView Café

The Carnegie Science Center on Pittsburgh’s Northside is the premier venue for Science and Exploration of the mind. Hosting the only 70×38 foot Giant Screen using 4K digital lasers and 45 speaker Surround Sound, and home of Buhl Planetarium and the USS Requin submarine, the Center also needs to feed thousands of hungry visitors 7 days a week.

The RiverView Café was outdated with standard cafeteria style service that was overwhelmed with lines at every station with food cooked way ahead of time and held for the rush. We took the entire concept to a new level by opening the front area to view how the food is really cooked to order and served approx 45 seconds after the order is placed. New counters with new layouts greatly improved the ambience and service speed. An Expo counter provided a landing to assemble the entire order for the customer. A new digital ordering / menu system transmits orders directly to the chef cutting down wait times and improving food quality. With all the hands-on exhibits and fun activities at Carnegie Science Center, customers now enjoy grilled-to-order burgers, salads, fresh-baked pizza, hand-breaded chicken tenders, deli sandwiches, and other hot and cold entrees and sides. Check out the Grab-n-Go selection of yogurt, chips, fresh fruit, and quick bites. They also offer cookies, pastries, soup, and a wide selection of beverages, including soda, flavor shots, slushies, juices, tea, coffee, and local milk.

Customer counts and satisfaction went way up, a win for everyone involved!
